Vibrant visuals light settings are too finicky to be a good lights setting

every time I try to make vibrant visuals darker it doesn't work no matter what I do inevitably I can't get the lighting down a bit its like a flashbang went off and it pretty much blinds me (by blind I mean it hurts my eyes) so mojang should make vibrant visuals light settings easier to use and I would like that.
