I’d like to suggest a new feature for Minecraft Bedrock Edition: a way to detect when a player eats a specific food item using commands, such as a loaf of bread.
Currently, commands can detect certain player actions like interacting or holding items, but there's no way to trigger events based on what food the player eats. This would open up a lot of possibilities for map makers and survival customizers — for example:
-
Giving a temporary Speed effect after eating bread
-
Triggering custom events based on food eaten (e.g., eating suspicious stew causes a boss to spawn)
-
Creating roleplay mechanics, hunger-based mini-games, or challenge modes
This would massively improve gameplay customization and command creativity on Bedrock, especially for those of us who make adventure maps, custom survival tweaks, or minigames.
Thank you for reading — I hope this idea gets considered!
