so I've been playing a bit of a modded world where I, ironically, spend most of my time trading abusively with a village (while also spending a lot of time trying to keep that village alive so I can get more emeralds). In the process of this, I started to wonder: if villagers don't want to fight, what is the Fletcher doing with all this flint and sticks I'm selling him? I'm not buying arrows, so who is? Same thing with the armorer and leather worker. I usually make my own equipment whenever possible, and none of the other players on this server are likely buying anything like arrows from the villager economy either. Where is it going, and why do they seem to have an endless source of emeralds?
I know people didn't like how trade lockouts used to work, and frankly I didn't either, but I do feel like we at least need something to balance out the economy so it "makes more sense". Even if villagers don't want to fight for themselves, maybe there could be some sort of mercenary humanoid that buys from villages and sells their services to anyone that can pay them emeralds? That seems like it would balance the economy without breaking the whole "pacifist" theme you've got going for the villagers that I think works really well... most of the time!
If not mercenaries, then at least come up with SOMETHING to balance this inequality. It's really bothering me!
I have a follow-up idea on how to make iron golems better (like "previously considered suggestions" said!) Stay tuned for that!
