It's just as the title says.
Cave Ruins could be small/medium/large structures ranging from houses of some long-forgotten people, abandoned ritual sites of, say, pillagers, or maybe even small ruined villages.
These ruins would yield up substantial loot depending on how large it is. Small ruins could contain 1 or 2 loot chests with contents similar to that of a dungeon, while larger ones could have gear like armour, weapons, and tools, and maybe even new items that could be exclusive to the ruins like new totems.
I feel the ruins would make a good addition to go alongside the caves and cliffs update. It would make it even more fun and exciting to go spelunking and discover a new ruin and find a piece of loot not yet discovered.
Not only that, but it could tie into the lore side of the game.
Most people believe that a race of ancient builders once existed in the overworld, and they constructed the temples and strongholds that now lie dormant. Perhaps they could become more canon by tieing in with ruins. New loot items could be advanced pieces of tech found in their ancient underground villagers.
Anyway, running out of characters to type with. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the idea.
