I like rain and think it is beautiful, but in Minecraft rain is known for being dark and forboding and really dangerous early game. My solution is that rain occasionally occurs as a sunshower. During sunshowers, it doesn't rain very hard. Instead of the whole sky turning dark gray. Have the sky get covered with lighter gray clouds, or sometimes don't change the clouds at all. Hostile mobs can still survive in sunshowers, but are very rare so that players don't have to worry about going out. This is a small feature that would really add a lot of ambiance to the game, and could fit in any update (although it would go especially well with the fruit trees and seasons updates that are currently under review). Adding sunshowers will make the weather happier!
