End Rods... what is the lore behind them, and where are the people that built these strange End cities?
Well the first part of that question could be answered with unicorns in the end dimension. Unicorns have a horn, that just so happens to be an End Rod. Like many deer, unicorns shed their horn every year, so thats how the mystery people obtained them for use in the cities. Unicorns would be a very elusive creature. Because they eat so much chorus fruit, they have the ability to teleport. And they regularly do if they are startled or are approached by a player. They have the ability to teleport over to other End islands too, provided they can see their destination. This makes them nearly impossible to catch. They can be ridden and used to teleport across between end islands, but they can't be tamed. They are neutral. When they eat chorus fruit, if the plan breaks, it can be re planted from the colorful sparkly glowing unicorn poop. The seeds from the chorus fruit always end up in that special poop. Unicorns are also a neutral mob, similar to a dolphin. While they can be friendly to a player, they can be dangerous if harmed and can teleport behind a player and stab them with that horn and then quickly teleport away. Interestingly, Endermen seem to enjoy the unicorn and can be seen bring them chorus fruit and feeding them or even seen as a unicorn jockey!! Stables also can be seen sometimes in End cities and would have remnants of special armour for the unicorn or a horse.
