The current wandering trader in Minecraft is not the greatest edition to the game. To me, I use wandering traders as free leads and nautilus shells. A reason I find the wandering trader not very helpful is because of its trades. Mostly the wandering trader just trades plants and flowers and common blocks. I think the wandering trader should have a tent in biomes to stay for the night. The tent would be basic, consisting of a bed and a chest full of things a wandering trader might trade. Outside there would be a lit campfire for light and heat purposes.
I would also prefer to see more varieties of trades from the wandering trader as for right now, the trades are rather disappointing. It should trade things that all villager professions might trade but shouldn't have levels. Maybe instead of the common dirt and stone trades, how about ores? And for the flowers and plants, they could also wool or nether plants.
This is my idea about how wandering traders could be a more interesting aspect of Minecraft. A unique trader that offers things from all around the overworld and even other dimensions. A trader who is not just useful for leads and precious shells but also rare and mysterious blocks. A trader who appears out of nowhere when you need him most. The wandering trader.
