I've noticed that if you use CustomModelData to change the texture of a spawn egg, the texture will still have the color tint of the spawn egg. It makes things a little difficult when trying to make custom textures for them.
Currently the generated model has two textures, Layer0, and Layer1. For items like leather armor, Layer0 has a tint while Layer1 does not. But for spawn eggs both textures have a tint. I would suggest adding another texture (Layer2) so that we can add non-tinted overlays to items like spawn eggs.
