According to the Blockbench FAQ:
"Minecraft hides (culls) the faces between solid blocks to improve performance. To avoid this, remodel a non-solid block. For example: Glass, Pressure Plates, Flowers. Alternatively, display the model by putting it into the head slot of an invisible Armor Stand or inside an invisible Item Frame."

I made this very basic 3D model of an enchanting table for my personal resource pack, and noticed I could see through the floor. It was not the first time I have had this problem. I had it when making one of the crafting table as well. The only way to fix this is to put a texture on the bottom, which can look quite odd in most circumstances. I suggest that Minecraft have an option for Resource pack creators to to override the unsightly Java culling.
