Currently on Java Edition, the Multishot enchantment applicable to crossbows functions very different than it does on Bedrock Edition; the enchantment causes 3 arrows to be fired with a 10° spread either side of the centre, and on Bedrock this effectively triples the damage if all connect. On Java Edition, however, the i-frames (damage invulnerability) present on receiving damage means that only one of the arrows may connect, making the enchantment very weak in comparison.
The multishot enchantment allows the Crossbow to have a seriously competitive burst damage (as opposed to sustained damage) output in BE, but requires the shots to be fire at a very close range in order for them to hit, also meaning that it's more effective against larger targets. I think this is an interesting function of the enchantment that allows for more creative use of the weapon.
I would like to see this functionality brought across to JE, and made consistent across both platforms/versions. With balance in mind, particularly bosses and PVP, I would also recommend the following: Triple damage is too much, even if only present at a shorter range, and would quickly become a stale meta for ranged weapons in Minecraft, so reducing the damage of each arrow by 25% or so would ensure that it's at least not a straight upgrade from other enchantments. Additionally, the 10° makes it scarcely usable beyond point blank, so to compensate for the reduced damage, this spread could be brought down to a smaller value.
