Hide Armor setting

I would really love to get an "Hide Armor" option (maybe for every piece) because I want to wear them to get less damage but I hate that I'm not seeing my skin anymore...

    There are multiple others who have suggested this, but posted on other threads, even incorrectly under the Minecraft dungeons category, which happens to have around 68 up votes currently. A simple toggle on off button next to the armor icons in the UI or in the world settings would be simple to add. As it is currently, users playing survival worlds have no reason to purchase skins since armor basic will always hide them. This makes the entire category of skins for mine coin less useful and profitable for the creators. Each of the users in our household laments the inability to hide armor. For those who may suggest mods, there are no mods for console that achieve this. Hours of research revealed a possible old mod for PC but that is no help to console players. Please!
