Invokers would be the Villager counter to the Illager Evoker. Evoke means "To call forth" while Invoke means "To call upon". The first use of the word "Invoke" back in the 15th century was "to call upon for help" and that is how it should be applied in Minecraft.
While Evokers can be found in woodland mansions - quick to attack any to discover them - the Invoker can be found at the top of their towers in which they spawn. Their emphasis is on assistance, and so they can be traded with, accepting your emerelds for beneficial status effects at lower levels, the purchase of potions at higher levels, and the removal of curses at the highest levels and the ability to buy a rare totem of Invocation at max trading level! This totem will allow you to summon an Invoker to come to your aid in a fight for a short period of time.
Are you unable to remove bad armor because it's been cursed with binding? Call upon the Invoker for help. Are you afraid of losing your rare enchanted diamond sword drop because it happens to be cursed with vanishing? The Invoker can help you! However, to get that level of help you will need to earn the Invoker's trust by purchasing his wares.
Of course, you could also try and take his goods by force, but beware: The Invoker is a far more ferocious opponent than the Evoker. More importantly, the Totem of Invocation can only be given freely. Never taken by force. It is a symbol of his promise to help you in your time of need.
