    Great idea, in Minecraft Bedrock Edition they already did a pretty good job, you can play with a higher resolution there.
    Also most games render things in the distant with lower resolution, Minecraft is literally kinda the only game which says: "Oh, there is this block which is that far, you can't really see it. Let's render it with FULL RESOLUTION to cause the maximum lag"
    Would be great if they change something there.
    This also applies to the Bedrock Edition, as far as I know.

    Also at the time of minecrafts creation quad cores werent really wide spread and duo core cpu where more a thing. So notch didnt bother implementing hyperthreating. Which means minecraft only uses a single core. While implementing hyperthreating does mean a total rewrite of the game. I think some form of optimisation must he done. Otherwise the game (on newest version) becomes unplayable on a large amount of pc's

    To increase performance while working on general game optimization, you could set the world build options to an "Old" way that would take world builds from 1.17.1 and below to build worlds with features of the 1.18 up.

    They should add like LOD (like in the Distant Horizon mod) and like rendering only what is on our view
