Short Summary:
Tamed Foxes will be able to uncover and dig up artifacts, faster and more effectively than the player, at a cost of a new food item. This new feature adds to the Archeology part of Caves and Cliffs.
The Main Idea:
Tameable Foxes will allow the player to tame Foxes. Tamed Foxes will be able to help the player find artifacts and add to the Archaeology part of the Caves and Cliffs update coming later this year. Giving a tamed Fox a new food item "Juicy Berry" will make the Fox dig up gravel and uncover the artifact. It isn't guaranteed that the Fox will recover the item, however, the chances will be slightly higher than a player using the "Brush" tool as seen in the Caves and Cliffs Update.
How to tame:
Currently, the only way to get a "Friendly Fox" is to separate a baby Fox from its parents and it won't run away from players.
Building on this idea, the way Foxes should be tamed is by breeding two "Friendly Foxes" together and separating the baby from the parents. This third Fox then can be tamed by the player. Foxes can be tamed with "Juicy Berries".
This also teaches the player about how basic domestication of animals works.
The New Food Items:
The "Juicy Berry" is a new food item used to both tame Foxes and make them dig up Artifacts.
Juicy Berries drop from Berry Bushes, just like Sweet Berries. The main difference being that Juicy Berries restore more hunger but are harder to get than Sweet Berries. Juicy Berries have a 1/10 (chances are only temporary).
