The Java edition of the game is already supported on Apple Silicon via the use of Rosetta, I would assume eventually we will see it be compiled for AS natively.

However, because Apple Silicon Macs support running iPad / iOS apps natively, we should be allowed to run this version of the game on the mac until a proper bedrock port is released (currently this version has been disabled from being downloaded from the mac app store).

And for all versions of Minecraft, this would be very helpful

This would be a great addition. The single-threaded performance of M1 is insane, and as far as I can tell Minecraft is mostly single-threaded. M1 devices are great for playing Minecraft and releasing a native version would make it even better.

Yeah it would be amazing to see Minecraft come to ARM based chips! Nvidia, Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Google are all working on designing their own ARM based chips, so it will be a matter of time before Mojang will HAVE to update minecraft to ARM based chips such as M1.

    The Future is Exciting

I have low expectations for MS to allow Mojang to do such things, it would benefit MS to avoid an M1 release while forcing W11 adoption. Yet I have some hope considering how Minecraft is on EVERY PLATFORM, so hopefully they follow with an official M1 port after the cave hot fixes. Let's hope for the best.

This would be fantastic. Currently, Rosetta gives good fps, but struggles whenever the game has to load a chunk. Standing still will give 200+ fps, but turning around (and hence loading chunks) drops it to about 2 fps. It would be great to have a native Java version for the new ARM chips, seeing as many JDK 17 kits already have support, e.g. Oracle.

If they want to support MacOS into the future this will need to be added, hell you can play the game natively right now if you compile LWJGL for ARM and mess around with MultiMC settings and the performance is great, have no idea why something which is already possible (in a hacky way) isn't officially supported?

All they would need to do is a recompile of the launcher app and include a native AS java runtime (which is available). Small effort, great benefits.

Can we please come out with a Bedrock version for Mac? Then I can play on a large screen with others on iOS. Much easier on the eyes. If nothing else, allow download on Apple Silicon Macs the iOS version, which already has native code.

Agreed, I find it very disgraceful that Microsoft has Support for all the other major platforms out there but decided not to support Minecraft Bedrock on M1 Macs

I really hope that they update the Java edition of Minecraft to Apple Silicon, especially because Apple has dropped support for Rosetta way back in 2011 with OS X Lion, making PowerPC Apps useless on Intel based Macs. I wouldn't want that to happen to Minecraft. I barely have anything to play on my Mac and I love Minecraft so much!.

Also it would be nice if it was possible to use my Java edition worlds cross-platform, on iPad and iPhone.
