I tried to purchase Minecraft Windows version for my child to play on their PC. First I purchased the app under my personal Microsoft account and after trying to login as myself on my childs PC and facing many problems with this I found out it is not possible to transfer a license to your child so had to request a refund.
The whole purchasing and account management process is very badly implemented on Microsoft Store especially when purchasing on behalf of a minor which must be the majority of purchases for Minecraft. I am completely put off by this experience and doubt I will ever try to buy a product through the Microsoft store ever again.
I would recommend to review the purchasing user experience and prompt if this is a purchase on behalf of a minor where additional information can be provided on the correct method, or implement parental accounts where a parent can register a child account under their account and purchase apps licenses on their behalf, like all the other digital vendors are doing, come on Microsoft!!
