Axolotl's mob detection distance

Axolotl have a really far detection distance right now for noticing other mobs to kill

I was fooling around looking at the snapshot, released it into a little pond, and when I came back later it had killed the whole rivers worth of salmon and was working on the nearby connected lake (When I released it, I did it in the pond thinking it would stay there and wouldn't be able to detect the salmon 20ish blocks upstream)
