Chunk generation has been a big problem to server owner , it is very resource expensive to generate a new chunk , so when many player started exploring the world and causing many chunk generation , the tps can fall below 10 or 5 or even under 1 tps (known as second per tps), depends on how many player is online and how many player is causing the chunk generation .
With the new cave and cliff update , chunk generation just get worse , chunk generation demands more resources and causes even more server lag .
The solution are simple , with the ability to force chunk generation , especially during server maintenance or during time where non-staff player cant access the server , and with proper use of world border , the lag caused by chunk generation can be greatly reduced or even completely eliminated to nonexistent . This is because server no longer need to generate chunk if they are already generated .
Usually server owner uses a plugin to force chunk generation , but it would be better if this is a built-in feature in vanilla minecraft.
Here are the command suggestion that i have in my mind right now :
/forcenewchunkgeneration <coordinate>
/forcenewchunkgeneration <from> <to>
The command will force new chunk to generate and ignore already generated chunk.
The benefit from this is that by being able to reduce lag , server player capacity can be increased with little to no change at server cost.
