shorter then pickaxe - i hate MC's cats.
the only way to make them go where i want them to go is by boating, and since its mostly a one-way road - downwards - that's a pain early game. leashes are not the best solution, however, thanks for them working.
i've got another one, after reading on villager's pathfinding. namely for cats, to keep on close-to-sea thematics (and somehow compensate them not eating cooked fish), domestified stray cats could've prioritise dried kelp blocks above any others to make their movements SOMEWHAT predictable and manageable without thousands of doors and contramptions.
same can apply to other domestified mobs, namely - haybells. or any wooden paths. we've got a stonecutter, might as well get a sawmill for better farm decoration. just think of all the possible usage for sawdust (alike snow) and sawdust furniture.
