Exactly what the title says. I didn't even notice JAPPA had changed it to grey until now, but in any case, there's literally nothing in The End that is grey. Besides, the crafting recipe for an End Rod is literally a Blaze Rod (light) and Popped Chorus Fruit (base), which is purple.
