Imagine you are walking over an ice bridge in the nether, when oops, the ice under your feet melt and send you plummeting into lava. There should be an effect or such to warn the player of melting ice. That's why I think ice should have a cracking effect (like someone mining them) and/or drip particles when they are melting.
