For now, capes were fully exclusive for people, who went to Minecon or did something completely wonderful for Minecraft Community.
With the upcoming account migration (and free cape for everyone) we might have a GREAT ocassion for making it even better for everyone.
What if we all could make our very own capes without using those punny banner patterns, or even add something EXTRA- Animated Capes, It can be whether completely free or paid ferature. I think $10 is a very reasonable price.
You can start from zero and release your creativity. About animated capes, there could be about 30 slots for every frame of the animation. IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES.
Of course for the sake of not making it unfair for non-cape players, there should be a required minimum amount of pixels for cape so it won't be hard to see during the game (while equipping elytra) for other players.
Of course in editor could be patterns/animations ready to use for less creative folks!
Also we don't have to stick to regular shaped elyta design with our capes. We could make it whatever we want the elytas to look like. Pointy, more square-ish, or even more.
This way Mojang might reward us for our support.
The Capes could be edited/animated in in-game editor or third party sites
Also to keep those Minecon Capes special and make shure there won't be any off brand copies of them, there should be some sort of filter that detects those sort of capes.
