elephants

I think they should add elephants to the game. They should spawn in savannahs and jungles. It would be ridable but not tamable and you could put carpet on it (like the llama) and 2 players can ride it. It would have and animation of eating leaves from trees and putting it in its mouth and it could drink from rivers and lake. You can't breed them but there are baby variants (not ridable). When they die they drop either acacia or jungle saplings. It is pretty strong and it has 20 hearts and if you or another mob attacks it it will deal four hearts of damage.

    Minecraft is not just a game with the purpose to entertain people and make money. The game gave itself the responsibility to make the world a better place. Best examples of this were the implementations of dolphins, bees and pandas with whom they wanted to make the people aware of their high mortality rate.

    Mojang understandably has been very hesitant with adding them because of the fact they get hunted down for their ivory, meat, skin and bones day by day. And that is something Mojang rightfully does not want to promote in the game.

    But now begs the question: How to correctly add elephants to Minecraft? Let me show you my ideas, which try to emphasize the current situation as well as keep the fictional aspect of being part of a game. [1/3]

    Elephant types:

    • African Elephant
      • Spawn in herds up to five (one of them is the matriarch) in the Savanna (other Savanna variations excluded), rarely with tusks
      • Bigger than the Asian equivalent
    • Asian Elephant
      • Spawn in herds up to three (one of them is the matriarch) in the Jungle Edge (other Jungle variations excluded), never with tusks
      • Smaller than the African equivalent

    General behavior:

    • Passive and slow
    • Become hostile and fast after being approached too much or a cub is attacked
    • Occasionally trumpet
    • Eat leaves as well as tall grass and large fern
    • Unique animations for picking and eating their food
    • Randomly get saplings by eating, plant them by travelling around

     

    Drop:

    • African elephant: Acacia or Baobab sapling
    • Asian elephant: Jungle tree sapling

    Breeding:

    • Cannot be bread manually by players

    Taming:

    • After a successful pillager raid (can be seen as poachers) in the Savanna, the matriarch of the herd can be tamed by feeding him haybales.
      • After being tamed, the rest of the herd appoints a new matriarch and moves on
    • Tamed elephants can be equipped with
      • Carpets to give them unique looks (like lamas)
      • A chest to transport items
      • Up to two saddles for two players to ride them
        • Equipment cannot be removed, carpets can be changed
      • If water nearby, tamed elephants occasionally spout water
        • If at the player friend: grants effects “Matriarch’s Blessing” which grants Fire Resistance for 30 seconds
        • If at hostile mobs: pushes them back and deals half a heart damage

    Other:

    • In the Savanna and Jungle Edge biome, there is a chance that the Wandering Trader sits on an elephant instant of leading two lamas

    In my opinion, that is the correct way to add elephants to Minecraft. Special types based on the habitat, cute behavior, no special drops and still a unique way to befriend these lovely creatures. [3/3]
