"Wander" mode for cats/dogs

When in this mode, cats and/or dogs will walk around, but not teleport to the player.

    Great idea. Maybe you could set them to a POI like a bed to make them wander no more than 48 blocks away from the POI, so we don't lose our pets.

    big YES! I would like to put up a shepherd dog in my sheep pen, it would be more atmospheric if the dog actually wandered around, instead of just sitting around.

    perhaps even if there is some certain block, Idk which could be used, but if that dog is near some sheep, and a wandering pet dog, the dog should chase the sheep so they stay around that block.

    I recently had this thought too.  It would be nice to have them wander a house instead of just sitting there. They can have a wander radius like the happy ghast does. Then you can have them follow you if you want and also still sit (helpful if they are out exploring with you).
