Society creation, NPC companions, fetch quests, colonist customization, and a growing culture. You ask me what Minecraft Vanilla is missing, I'll tell you it's a story. An interactive story. One that brings life into your creations; a mid-game function that fills that missing hole with two doors and a window. What I'm suggesting is that Mojang implements a colony system into the game. One that takes inspiration from the "Minecolonies" mod.
Specific suggestions:
--Colonist NPC's that look like normal characters (not villagers) that build, guard, eat, have vocations, skill building (using higher tier tools require higher level experience), party creation, interaction with players, networking with other colonies.
--Pre-generated structure templets that the builder colonists can create when given all the materials needed to do so. These buildings have specific functions, whether they're a trade, living quarters, patrol beacons (for guards), or decorative. Architect NPC's can record your structures so they can be rebuilt.
--Functional furniture EX: seats that you can sit indefinitely which allow players sleeping to change the night cycle.
--Added building objects EX: slanted clay roofing, dyed water, glowing water, larger signs, letter blocks, glowstone lettering.
--Colony border that when crossed greets you.
--Minecart "tagging" where a "monitoring rail" with matching tag will send out redstone pulse. This is for creating rail systems that send carts to specified destinations.
--Trophies
