I like the idea but not the name as much. Perhaps something like /resetchunk <"x"> >"z">

That's a nice idea. I dont know why it should not be in Minecraft. It is also very helpfull for server etc.

This is a great idea, as I find myself seeking out natural terrain all the time, so this would be very useful.

This could also be combined with /forceload to just be /chunk forceload/reset or whatever

It would only need to remove chunks from the region file, and mark the surrounding chunks for repopulation, and the game would treat it like just the edge of the world and regenerated it for "free", and you would get the new terrain smoothing for free as well? The closest you can get to that in vanilla right now is to just remove entire region files, that are like 512x512 blocks across i think, not vary good in many cases, or use 3rd party programs like MCEdit or those server plugins. Even tho those usually have bigger feature sets, they are sometimes slow to update, and you might for other reasons not want to run modded, so yes, it woyld be quite nice to have some basic built in funtionallity for that. Maybe even haveing, removing chunks, and mark chunks for repopulation, be seperate commands, and having a gamerule like "spectators generating chunks" for all players, as would be even more powerfull, both for mapmaking and for server owners.

That would be very useful for loyal minecraft players who played in 1 world for years!!
