    Fantastic idea!

Copper super charged rails are 2x as fast as "Redstone rails" but stop functioning in the rain.

you can take damage if you take a turn to fast (go on a roller coaster that goes 75+ mph in real life)

Since copper is associated with electromagnetism I would have copper rails be able to be placed on walls. Either that or make minecarts work like Maglevs

    For downsides/additional differences:

    • damage entities standing on them without riding a cart
    • have a fixed direction they accelerate in
    • can't be powered directly and have to be connected to a powered rail

You could just place the copper underneath the rail for it to go faster.

    That would be too expensive.

What if you could make Copper Wires as well as Copper Rails? Then, you could place copper wire along the side of a track, and then strike it with a Channeling Trident? This would be an extremely fast way of getting around. The electricity wouldn't go through the wires instantly, and instead travel along at the same speed the player would be moving in the cart.

If it's just limited to electricity then no one would use it. Redstone is more adaptable. And if it only had a pulse, than it wouldn't really be used.

I like this idea after all, gold only has 70% of the electrical conductivity of copper. Really if silver was available it would be the best material for "supercharged" rails due to being significantly more conductive than copper. Perhaps a spectrum of rail strength similar to weapon materials in Minecraft?  Or maybe a delay on this feature until more design options are around? In any case great idea!

Yes, it would be very cool to have better powered rails. However, they could just improve the existing powered rails. Maybe instead of speeding up the cart, copper rails could act as brakes, slowing the cart down?

This is a very interesting idea

These rails should increase the speed but going too fast and taking a turn derails them.

Mojang made changes to minecarts with powered rails in a snapshot then quickly reverted them due to community feedback but with the option to choose for high speed rails or powered it makes them a really good feature that competes with boat/ice roads

Maybe it just is harder to craft.

Maybe you can add copper to already existing redstone rails to make them a bit faster

I like the idea of two different types of powered rails, I should point out that gold is far more conductive than copper. So, if this were to be implemented, gold powered rails should be supercharged, and copper ones should take the current slot.

I think they should have something to do with lightning as that is a key part of copper.

Maybe they need to be powered by a lightning rod, redstone doesn't work, and store a power level that decreases by one each time that they are ridden over. That power level affects how fast you can go. When lightning strikes the rod next to a line of copper rails the entire length is set to ... say three, as opposed to redstone which decreases by one with length, which is the fastest. Following that, two would be the speed of a regular powered rail, one a regular rail, zero slows down the minecart.

Possible con: copper rails would need lightning storm to work
