Elytra Beetle

The source of Elytra Wings, an Elytra Beetle is an extremely rare mini-boss that spawns in end biomes. They have a little more health than a ravager, and will drop elytra wings, and bottles of bug juice can be collected from it. This can be used as a cheaper alternative to making lingering potions.

    IRL, elytra are not the wings of beetles, just the hard part that covers their real wings. Because of this, the Elytra Beetle should have the elytra open but then have 2D transparent wings pop out which flap rapidly which allow them to actually fly instead of just glide

    As elytra are the hard coverings for wings, they should act like armor to the Elytra Beetles, possibly making them impervious to arrows like shulkers when they are closed, but also making it so they can't fly or move at all. They can be hit with arrows when the elytra are open, but the elytra on their backs may also get damaged, rendering it useless

    People have been wanting elytra to be added on top of armor, but as it is a hard covering for wings it could be made to be a type of armor itself. It could make it so the players back is impervious to arrows when closed. Turtle Shells could also be placed on the chestplate to do the same

    As endermites are like the end-version of silverfish, they could infest Shulkers and then transform their shell into the elytra. They could also leave the shulker shell as an empty shulker box and fly away, but I am not sure about that.

    One idea I had was that you could shear the wings off of them making them unable to fly, but that seems a bit too easy to farm. More likely, I think they should just have a rare chance to drop them. Either way, they should always drop a damaged elytra.

    Or perhaps it can be tamed as a source of transportation in the end that is endless... Unlike elytra wings.

    These could be found in a new area of end ships, as “cargo” this makes much more sense than there being a random item frame with elytra in them for no apparent reason (shulkers don’t need them) also another new mob could explain who built the end cities and who’s ships they are (perhaps a parallel to the piglin mob) this shouldn’t be the enderman and should not spawn on the original island or outside of end cities.
