More redstone components on the side of pistons

Redstone dust, buttons, tripwire hook, repater and comparator cannot be placed on the side of extended pistons, I thought it had to do with their hitboxes, but all pressure plates can and don't pop off when the piston extends and they are larger than a button.

I would like if even those component could be placed too, it would make redstone machines smaller (not too much, just a bit) and give players more freedom when working with redstone.
