The "Problem"
Waterlogged rails and minecarts were added in snapshot 20w45a. The main thing I want to use this new mechanic for is an underwater travel system. Unfortunately, minecarts move much slower underwater. It takes ~5.4 seconds to travel 20 blocks vs. ~3.1 seconds for dry minecarts. This speed difference makes it too slow in my opinion for a travel system. If I wanted to travel 1000 blocks underwater it would take ~4.5 minutes vs. ~2.5 minutes out of water.
My Solution
Allow waterlogged minecart speed to equal dry minecart speed if the occupant is wearing Depth Strider III. I think this is a reasonable solution because it will not affect the Redstone uses of slowing down minecarts and it won't remove the obstacle it will just add a way around it. Thanks for reading.
PS, I think a neat gimmick would be to let you go even faster if you get dolphins grace but that might be a stretch.
