When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Waxed Redstone For Underwater Contraptions

The new 20w45a snapshot just introduced waxed copper blocks, which are able to preserve their state by preventing oxidation; what if this idea of wax being used as a preservative was expanded to include waxed redstone components? By crafting redstone dust, repeaters, comparators, etc. along with honeycombs, they would become waxed variants, and would therefor withstand water (and possibly becoming waterloggable). Considering that:

  • wax naturally repels water IRL
  • waxed variants of blocks are now a thing
  • honeycomb still doesn't have too many uses
  • no new block models or redstone mechanics would need to be added (unless Mojang decides otherwise)
  • rails were just made waterloggable, paving the way for more underwater contraptions

this seems like it would be a somewhat straightforward and much welcomed change to the game!

    In Bedrock Edition, redstone is really messed up and quirky, but they do have this idea going for them.  In the Bedrock version, redstone components can be waterlogged.  I don't think we have to worry about wax.
