Villagers pick up items related to their professions

Villagers should pick up more items than simply food and farming items. I suggest that villagers can pick up items related to their professions. For example, blacksmiths pick up iron ingots, tools etc, clerics pick up gold, potions, pufferfish etc, baby villagers pick up flowers and nitwits & unemployed villagers do not pick up anything. Villagers also tend to walk toward these items when they are restocking (wandering around), making these actions more meaningful. Of course, they still pick up food and breed.

  This would finally explain that villagers have to collect materials to restock and that villagers aren't magical and how iron golems form. Although I wonder how the items will be there in the first place.
