An issue I have with the custom bossbars in Minecraft is that they are unable to store values for independent players. This is unlike scoreboards which can store a value for each player, which allows them to be used in multiplayer. Bossbars can be used in multiplayer, however, they cannot be used to store and display player-specific data. This means that if someone wants to display a score or value that is specific to that player, they have to use the actionbar or some other means of displaying it, which isn't always ideal. If you want to show a vague and not a specific value, you cannot do that with the actionbar, as you have to give players exact numbers. Also, there is only one actionbar, so only one score can be shown to the player unless the actionbar is split up into segments.
