A spider, probably the size of a cave spider, but it acts somewhat like a mimic. As with a real trapdoor spider, it would be hidden in the ground as dirt, sand, gravel, etc. and would drop some kind of string/silk that could be crafted into mimic blocks that function as trapdoors for actual hidden bases.
