Monster Dens would generate beneath the surface, including being able to generate in a hill/mountain depending on if that fits with the mob (some could be biome-restricted too). Each den belongs to a certain type of mob and only allows said mob to spawn until you come in and clear it out (perhaps destroy a certain block; maybe some sort of “nest”-type block?).
Dens would fit the mob’s characteristics, i.e. spider dens would have cobwebs and could have a new web block that you can climb like vines (but makes you slow, not as bad as cobwebs), some cobblestone, and could be big but somewhat narrow. Creeper dens could contain gunpowder-like stuff or spore-producing, explosive plants (depending on how they’re seen to be, not sure; Creeper AI could also be updated to tackle you while in the den and only explode there as a last resort), and be kinda small and have a bigger, main room with small rooms close by. Slime dens could be rare (could only generate in slime chunks or under swamps) and have slime stuff, silverfish dens could be damp and small, zombie and skeleton dens could be kind of basic (though skeletons could have bone stuff and wooden blocks), etc. Just cool mob-specific areas for monsters underground.
These wouldn’t be very common, though some could be rarer than others. Maybe there could be loot in them, too, the kinds of items depending on the den.
I think these could be really cool and breathe a bit more life into the monsters, so I hope they sound cool :)
