We desperately need a fully Mojang controlled forum explicitly for Minecraft. This could be either in the launcher, or the launch screen for easy accessibility.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding the mob vote, mainly due to people with a huge fanbase swinging the vote enough for an unfair vote. With a Mojang controlled forum, we can have a vote that isn't restricted by time or populace. They can enable comments, but make them anonymous, meaning popular fanbases don't have much power. They can still post on twitter and what not, but it's much fairer to the community as a whole. This also means only people with Minecraft can vote, not random people following some Youtubers command.
This also could mean a minecraft wikia that is easily accessible in game. The Minecraft Gamepedia is an extremely thourough and useful resource and would be quite useful with in game access. This would mean less of a need to constantly switch back and forth between tabs.
The Minecraft Launcher already posts news about Minecraft, so an actual forum would be even more helpful to this. This can rapidly show news to everyone who has Minecraft, not just players with Twitter. They would still be able to post on Twitter if they wanted to.
Finally, this would allow for a closer knit community in the forums, allowing for easier communication, and eventually, online small server multiplayer.
