Bedrock Server Download Page: Clear Version and Simple File Names

I manage a Docker Container image for the bedrock server and I know there are others out there as well as people who write scripts to check for new versions and auto-update their server binary. I'd like to propose a few suggestions that would make it easier on those of us who do this:

 

  • On the [download page](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock) have a field that just shows the latest version available. It could be visible (preferably) or in the metadata of the page.
  • A download with a simple file name like "bedrock-server-latest.zip" along side the current files "bedrock-server-<version>.zip"
  • Rules you'd like users to follow if they are automating a build process or download from your page. i.e.: maximum frequency for checking, EULA rules, etc.

    this is more important than ever now, as the download link isn't directly in the markup anymore with the redesign

    PLEASE just make the directory where all the server zip files are located browseable!

    The download links for all the linux server versions point to this directory:

    https://www.minecraft.net/bedrockdedicatedserver/bin-linux/

    But we're not allowed to SEE the contents of that directory, which is INCREDIBLY unhelpful.

    Right now if you KNOW somehow that the latest file is called "bedrock-server-1.21.84.1.zip" you can just download it directly from this URL:

    https://www.minecraft.net/bedrockdedicatedserver/bin-linux/bedrock-server-1.21.84.1.zip

    But there is no good way to write a script to automatically SEE what the latest version is, and download it.  Instead we're forced to MANUALLY check the download page over and over again.  Please just let us SEE the filename of the latest version there and then automatically download it!
