What are those little ghosts inside the Warden? What are they, and what's their purpose? Well, what if they were part of an undead jumble of souls that was actually controlling the Warden's body?
Think about it. Some explorers were lost in the Deep Dark and perished. The souls of the explorers possessed the unique Sculk blocks that inhabited the area, taking the form of the Warden. While they were all able to live once more, it wasn't exactly a new life. They were controlling a flailing, lifeless body without being the body itself. This explains why the Warden moves around so weirdly. It's basically a lifeless puppet the souls are controlling for defense. Together, they would all use this powerful body to protect the area they died in.
Having multiple souls in one body also explains why a couple of them are watching you from the Warden's ribs. Some are controlling the head, blinded and can only scream in agony. Some are controlling the arms and body, but doing so horribly. Hence, why the body wobbles around so awkwardly.
Why am I explaining all of this? Well, what if after you successfully kill the Warden, it drops a powerful item, but at the cost of all the souls flying out of the Warden to attack you. They would of course be very weak, but it would be one final charge to destroy you, the intruder, so you can join them. And be one with the empty, soul-filled body that is the Warden.
So basically, I feel like giving the Warden some lore would make it a bit more interesting :)
