I thought of this with the new up and coming caves and cliffs update. one of the features of this update was wool occlusion, and this got me thinking what if not only different blocks had different reduction amounts for vibrations (so you could limit the range to the desired amount) but blocks reduction amounts for vibrations also corresponded to how much noise a player could hear through that block (this feature could be useful for Redstone users (but Redstone users would have to find a balance between noise reduction and sigil from the new wireless Redstone block (sulk sensors) and for secret bases/traps), this could be used for more accurate sounds in caves (so you can't just hear zombies through five blocks of stone anymore; which would help with more surprising/interesting gameplay). This feature would also bring a little cool piece of realism to Minecraft (as you know vibrations and sounds in real life are closely related).
Personally, I think currently Redstone is too noisy to have near or in your base and it's too noisy for traps. It's also so annoying to shift everywhere when trying to hide from players.
