After watching the demonstration of the Dripleaf at Minecraft Live today, I came up with this idea for a mob: the Dripleaf Spider. This creature behaves similarly to a trapdoor spider in real life, and spawns in the Lush Caves biome (of course).
Dripleaf Spiders are smaller than spiders, but larger than cave spiders. They are also more cube-like, rather than flat like Spiders and Cave Spiders. The Dripleaf Spiders also have a Dripleaf on top of their head. They hide in the floors of the Lush Caves, camouflaged from view. If a player steps on the Dripleaf on its head for too long, the Dripleaf Spider will start to attack them. When a player steps on the Dripleaf on its head, the Dripleaf Spider will let out a little hissing sound. This will warn the player that they are standing on it, to give them time to move off.
I feel like this mob would add a bit more challenge to exploring the Lush Caverns, and would fit in well with the lush, cramped forest feel of the biome.
