In Minecraft, some enemy mobs have personality traits/fears which add some flavour to them. Creepers run away from Cats, Skeletons run away from Wolves, Endermen will take cover from rain, etc.
But! Something that has always caused me to scratch my head is the fact that the mobs take the effort to escape a semi-harmless mob, yet can't be bothered to escape the lava they've been burning to death in, or that they'd rather die in the sunlight trying to chase me than take cover.
It would be really cool if this was changed! Instead of relentlessly focusing on the player, when mobs are in a dire situation they will focus on getting out of that situation over just blindly attacking the player.
For example, if a Zombie sees day is going to come soon, they will pick moving to the nearest tree/water pool over chasing the player (unless they recently damaged them). A player is still able to "persuade" them to go into the sun after taking cover, but they won't just blindly run forward until they tragically burn to death. This would also enable you to "strike back" as the zombie is running away!
Or, if a Skeleton is burning to death, they will stop shooting the player and try to move out of the lava/extinguish themselves with a nearby water source before continuing the chase.
I believe this would be a good addition because fighting mobs can tend to feel a bit samey - it would make mob encounters a bit more dynamic and add extra personality! :)
