In Java Edition, placing mushroom blocks next to each other allows the player to "cull" the red/brown mushroom block texture into a pore texture:
...if two similar mushroom blocks are placed next to each other and one of them is broken, the side of the other block that it was facing reveals the pore texture. (Minecraft Wiki)
However, this feature has not been present in Bedrock since the blocks's introduction (and still missing after MCPE-34114 was fixed). Adding this feature to Bedrock will give greater variety for Survival mode players, e.g. for more "realistic" designs where the wall and ceiling textures are different.
