Old Fire Fire_0 to Fire_1 correspondense

I was editing a texture pack for lower fire and in 1.8-1.11 texture packs i could make the fire block look nice in fire_layer_0 and fire_layer_1 to make the overlay short, but in 1.12-1.16.2 fire_0 would make the fire block texture change and fire_1 would do the same thing. I really like that in older resource packs you could make the fire block look nice with the overlay being short, please add that small resource pack feature it really helps the casual and competitive minecraft player.
