Forest spirit

If a village is surrounded by trees spirits will appear. These spirits are lime green villager variants. They act like normal villagers except they can’t trade and they protect the village. When a mob is trying to attack or is attacking villagers the spirits will run towards it and make it glow green. This will cause the mob to turn into a tree which will disappear at sunset. If the forest around the village is destroyed less and less spirits will appear. Planting trees in the village will make more spawn. These spirits can barley be seen in the day but at night they’re very noticeable. The type of tree depends on how many spirits will spawn. Big trees will get you 5-8 while small trees will give you 1-2. Custom trees will also spawn in spirits, these can spawn much more spirits if they’re big enough, but for it to do so the tree must be mostly logs (2 stripped logs=1 log) and it must have leaves.
