Beta Controller Feedback Thread

Along with the bug fixes in this week's beta, we have made some changes to the way recipes are highlighted and selected when using a controller - we would love to hear your feedback on this while it is in the beta, so please let us know what you think!

    My only complaint so far is that the user interface on consoles could use a serious improvement. Things are pretty hard to find when searching in creative mode and I often get confused when I am trying to craft something in survival !

    I would like the new controller crafting to be reverted back to the way is was before the nether update as I find it annoying when I have my inventory layed out the way I prefer and when I craft a item it moves the items I'm using to craft into the hotbar or to a different position in my inventory. I understand why the feature could be useful to some but I think to more people who play with a well organised inventory/hotbar it can just be annoying.

    My xbox 1 controller has been glitching in minecraft lately by moving me when I am not doing anything and in the inventory/crafting menu, I am having trouble moving around in it.

    I would like to suggest this feature that was in the legacy versions of Minecraft its the quick snap inside the inventory this would make everything feel fast to move items  wherever around your player inventory .

    Could you also fix this issue with the inventory where you try and quickly swap an item the previous item won't be on your cusser and it will drop out of your inventory this is a super annoying issue plaugeing the controller users on Minecraft Bedrock

    The select recipe I great, but it is annoying that if you have the materials that the recipe requires It crafts the item I think it'd be great if X just show the recipe and A button crafts it

    The X to select can be used with villagers, press X select a specific trade and Press A to trade it 

    Edit: 

    When you select a recipe and then leave the crafting table or craft the item, all the materials go to another inventory slot, I think it would be much more comfortable if they returned to the same spot they were at first place

    Controller sensitivity is a lot slower on controller compared to keyboard and mouse

    Console controllers should use the left trigger to control left hand and the right trigger to control the right hand just like Java but backwards. Java uses left clicker for the right hand and the right clicker for the left hand. This would allow us to use shields with the left trigger instead of having to crouch to block.  Also this would make it possible for dual wielding. And before anyone says it just make this a feature for private worlds and private realms cause i know phones cant have dual wielding but one version shouldn't hold the rest of Bedrock down.

    When I use a controller on an android phone and I try to type something (I have SwiftKey) I glitches out and only shows like a little bit of the keyboard. Meaning I can't type while using a controller.

    Regarding the crafting recipe being automatically selected during crafting in the new beta of 1.16.2:
    A full inventory will cause items to be dropped on the ground whenever something is crafted. It's very annoying and makes it very finicky and clunky to craft multiple of the same item with a full inventory.

    I keep trying to change my A and B controllers but it just doesn't budge. It's like the button to swap the 2 is just there for decoration. I press it and it does nothing.

    a better crafting UI section to make it a lot faster to craft stuff and clean

    new Creative UI on controller to make it more clean and easier to find blocks.

    Please add an option to use the Legacy Console UI and have it be enabled by default on consoles, it sucks having to use a UI made for keyboard and mouse on a console with a controller.

    The update made a change I would like to see reverted. Before this change you could use square and triangle (or X and Y) to open up your crafting and inventory respectively, and the game would remember for which button to have the recipe tab open. However, after the update, the game no longer tracks this, which ultimately renders the two different buttons useless. Now you have to use either square or triangle (X & Y) to open up your inventory, and then use the bumpers to open and close the tab. I know this is a minor inconvenience, but it is a weird decision because it is counter intuitive. In short, we used to have 2 different functions for 2 different buttons, whereas now we have 2 buttons which are basically the same. Please revert this!

    I honestly wish there would be an option to switch the crafting in minecraft to be like the xbox one edition it is much more controller friendly.

    JAGBITE you can change what the button does so there's no reason to do so and blocking would be anyway possible cause legacy console edition had sword blocking via left trigger.
