Mansions already spawn in dark oak forests. What about having a very low chance of spawning in a birch forest? Every birch forest I've seen has had nothing but trees for miles. And it could spawn in a clearing, surrounded by an almost Stonehenge esque structure made of mossy cobble and cracked stone brick.
You don't mention how it attacks, but it could have a bite that poisons the player for a few seconds.
As far as drops go, it's head would be cool. It could look similar to a dragon head but I'm not sure how it would be different. It should also drop some XP and there should be chests with loot similar to what can be found in desert temples in the center. If the only point of killing the basilisk is to get its head then no one is going to. Maybe it also drops an egg that turns into a baby basilisk that can be used like a horse but looks cooler? Just a few ideas to fill in the gaps. This makes me want to roughly design the temple it would be in.
