I just realized this yesterday on how squid ink really does'nt help the squid.So if the squid is attacked,like ussual,it will squirt ink at the attacker.This could also count as guardians and Elder guardians.the ink will cause blindness to the attacker for 5-10 seconds.It could also cause slowness.this could actually give more of a use to squids.Distract a guardian,blind it,and let the player finish it off.
