I would like for the functionality of Dispensers to be expanded, allowing them to not only place blocks, but also use tools, and ultimately fill the role of automated tunnel boring. I am however deeply unsatisfied with the presentation of Dispensers that perform actions that strike me as "too intelligent", and so I am proposing a new mob that replaces Dispensers:
Living Rock

The Living Rock is a solid block used as a redstone component to "use" items, having all of the same functionality Dispensers did, with the added functionality of placing blocks and using tools. They have been retextured, make rock noises, and are now considered a lifeform despite having all the properties of a block. They can no longer be crafted, and are instead found in groups together basking in fields.

Living Rocks take damage like any other mob, and are a natural enemy to Silverfish. They are killed instantly if uprooted, and require Silk Touch to relocate. This new presentation of Dispensers is to compensate for the fact that they are now more intelligent, and them being uncraftable and ultimately more "expensive" in this manner is to compensate for the fact that they are more useful.
It goes without saying that this should only be implemented after pushable block entities comes to Java edition, as they are only useful in tunnel-boring when part of a flying machine. They could also be called Stone Automatons.
