This system is not an overhaul of the Village Reputation System, but rather a system that works in tandem with it.
As it currently stands, the only way a Village raid is triggered is through player involvement.
The first time it happens, it might be a mistake, but unless the player is wholly unaware of what happened, it's intentional from thereon out. So players using Villages to farm totems are undeservedly being praised as heroes.
A suspicion system, specific to each Village, would remedy this.
I propose a multi-stage system:
First Raid: No Consequences, Hero of the Village is awarded, +10 reputation points, as per usual.
Stage 1: Achieved upon fending off a 2nd raid at the same village. The player that triggered the event (hereon out referred to as P1) receives +5 reputation points, and will be awarded Hero of the Village if their total reputation amounts to 15 or higher.
Stage 2: Achieved upon fending off a 3rd raid at the same village. Hero of the Village is not awarded to P1, nor are they awarded any reputation points.
Stage 3: Achieved upon fending off a 4th raid at the same village. P1 is not awarded Hero of the Village, is deducted 10 reputation points, and is deducted an extra reputation point for any crime against the village.
Stage 4: Achieved upon fending off a 5th raid at the same village. P1 is not awarded Hero of the Village. P1 is set to -15 reputation (unless their reputation is lower), and is deducted 2 extra reputation points for any crime against the village.
