    I almost always agree with making bedrock more like java, but in this case I feel that the shovel makes sense in the crafting recipe so java should be changed to match bedrock.

    This would make it easier for specific minigames and such, but it's not that big of a feature that needs to change

    the bedrock crafting recipe is just annoying so it would be nice to get the java recipe

    I think that they should change it in Java to match Bedrock.

    Agreed. Bedrock's version is just clunky and convoluted. It's not like Minecraft is known for its realism, after all, which is the only argument for adding the shovel at all.

    Of course, if we want to get really pedantic, we can require 2 shovels in the recipe, to match the final product's appearance. You see how silly that gets?
